Schwarzman Scholars

A one-year, fully-funded master’s program at Tsinghua University in Beijing, designed to build a global community of future leaders who will serve to deepen understanding between China and the rest of the world.

Deep Dive: Experiential Learning in China

Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at 8:00 PM until 9:00 PMEastern Daylight Time UTC -04:00

In this webinar, Chad Futrell, Executive Director of Student Life at Schwarzman College, will talk about one of the distinctive components of the Schwarzman Scholars program: the Deep Dive course. Deep Dive is a required course that stretches over the academic year that includes lectures and short excursions that introduce, supplement, and expand on themes covered in other China-focused courses. The highlight of the Deep Dive course, though, is and a week-long, field trip to a particular region of China that focuses on a theme such as business development, state-led development, rural development, or political shadowing. A keystone of Schwarzman Scholars’ experiential learning and dynamic curriculum, the Deep Dive provides Scholars with the opportunity to refine their practical understanding of contemporary aspects of China's economy, politics and society.

Admissions Officer Frederico Menino will facilitate the discussion, which will also have the participation of alumni.

Schwarzman Scholars is a fully-funded scholarship program for the next generation of young leaders, anchored in an 11-month Master's Degree in Global Affairs at Beijing's Tsinghua University. More information is available on www.schwarzmanscholars.org.

Registration is no longer available because the registration deadline has passed.
